It’s a must-have for any TikTok aficionado — the ultimate countdown to merk by animal, featuring everything from tiny bugs that can turn you into a hashtag to animals so massive they can murder you by accident — all written as if you’re watching Mamadou’s TikTok videos. We learn that he downloaded TikTok in April 2020 and made his first video. Since then he has been followed by more than 14 million people on the app, and his YouTube videos featuring his distinctive takes on animal biology and behavior have been viewed 62 million times.

Dena likes a series called “Can it Kirkland” from @neverendingfall. A new trend has people listing the top 10 things they learned from their job, featuring one about reality TV from @aurorasblog and brain injuries from @ladyspinedoc. Weird TikTok Trends: Irish Obama Tok, Howie Mandel, Blankie Tok and More

Dena and Melissa start the show talking about how weird TikTok was this week, in a good way. Starting with Irish Obama Tok, featuring videos from @syd.jpeg, @duncan.lk, and @buckydeservedbetter10. Creator @​​_famousavery used the sound to talk about the weird video Howie Mandel posted about a prolapsed rectum. We play another video from @jocelyn.in.ur.ear talking about how Howie overshadowed the weird Doja Cat Noah Schnapp feud. 

9:30 - Honest Mom TikTok Feud 

We break down the feud between @diaryofanhonestmom and another “honest mom” who’s plagiarizing her content. We love a take from @justanotherprgirl on how personalities should deal with feuds like this. Jen Shah take note. 

17:20 - Door Dasher Dog TikTok Story

The wholesome TikTok story of the week goes to @markp_. He felt terrible about accidentally yelling at his Door Dasher. TikTok came to the rescue and connected him with the Dasher so he could apologize. And Door Dash (@doordash) joined in to give him praise and a raise!

22:20 - NYC TikTok, Tree Touch My Shoulder Trend

Dena complains about seeing too many videos about the spa on Governors Island on her For You Page. The tree touch my shoulder trend is talking over TikTok, featuring ​​@iammichaelkeith and @pooksapotheca. 

27:20 - Blankie Tok

We have to shout out @kirby_j for this incredibly relatable blankie video. We have found our people on Blankie Tok.

July TikTok Trends

Dena and Melissa start the show talking about Dena’s recent trip to Portugal and Melissa’s therapist’s advice. One of the few things that made us laugh about recent events is this TikTok from @ricorico122. 

12:15 - Stitch Trend

The first trend is a stitch question asking, “What’s a scam that’s become so normalized we don’t even realize it’s a scam anymore?” The original comes from @debtcollective. We feature a stitch from @jamylecannon.

14:30 - Account Spotlight: @nycsanition

This account is killing it on TikTok with funny parodies, skits, and unexpected content from a sanitation department. 

17:20 - Man-on-the-Street Trends

Melissa is obsessed with Ted from one of @shanrizwan’s NYC interview videos. His entire account is filled with delightful man-on-the-NYC-street content. Meanwhile, @blakebachert1’s experience with people is the exact opposite. Everyone at Walmart hates him. Shout out to our past guest and Washington Square Park’s favorite TikTok interview show @whatspoppinshow. 

26:15 - Duet Food Trend 

A video by @alimppp is going around where they dip full size Hershey bars into a peanut butter jar and eventually make banana pancakes. One duet comes from @chefreactions. We’d eat it. 

28:15 He’s a 10 but…

This last trend is one of our favorites. Featuring examples from @dangraf_, @official.nilla, and @mikkiraymond. We even toss around a few scenarios ourselves.

After a brief hiatus thanks to the ‘vid, we’re back in action. This week's show is broken into three sections: Food, trending audios, and why we love TikTok. 

FOOD TRENDS

Quinoa chocolate bars (@saltnsprinkles) lead the food trends this week, along with Healthy Diet Coke by @mandyvjones. 

TRENDING AUDIOS

A clip from Love Island about sitting down is going viral. We love one from @ryanair about Timothy Chalamet. A stitch with @ring.swald.egan about office life is also trending, featuring a video from @win_the_job. A sped up version of Angeleyes by Abba is also trending. Paris Hilton (@parishilton), Stacey’s Chip (@stacy.madison), and Too Turnt Tony (@tooturnttony) have funny takes on the trend. The next audio uses “Turn Down for What” by DJ Snake and Lil Jon getting interrupted by Google Maps. @injectormissviv uses it to show the Kardashians’ butts then and now. 

WHY WE LOVE TIKTOK  

After @danielswall created a TikTok about songwriter Ryan Tedder (@realryantedde), he duetted it and the followers have poured in. Taylor Swift shouted out TikTok at the Tribeca Film Festival (video by @samarramy) and its influence on the music industry.

100th Episode Extravaganza

2 Old 4 TikTok celebrates 100 episodes! A la Golden Girls, we reflect on our favorite moments from the past two years. Featuring clips from past episodes and interviews with past guests (listed below).
