100th Episode Extravaganza

2 Old 4 TikTok celebrates 100 episodes! A la Golden Girls, we reflect on our favorite moments from the past two years. Featuring clips from past episodes and interviews with past guests (listed below). Come along for the ride as we interview each other and find out our podcast high and lows, laugh along to bloopers, and reminisce on the good ole days of TikTok 2020. Remember when celebrities weren’t on TikTok? What about the watermelon and mustard trend? Do you still remember “Into The Thick Of It”? We do. And we take this 100th episode milestone to look back on all the things you already forgot about these past two years on the Tok. Bonus content: We kept in some Easter eggs of Dena yelling at Melissa about her noisy chair and Melissa cursing out the planes flying overhead. This is a fun one. Kim (@kimkardashian) only has one video on TikTok so far, we speculate if more will come.

Marketing on TikTok with Business Tok host Austin Armstrong

Dena and Melissa welcome Austin Armstrong, host of the podcast “Business Tok” and owner of the marketing agency Socialty Pro, to the podcast this week! Austin tells us how he grew his TikTok to over 330,000 followers and what he's learned about the platform from a digital marketing perspective. 

He tells us about navigating TikTok, starting a podcast, and advising businesses on their social strategy. Refinery29 defined the TikTok trend of the “villain era,” made popular by @padzdey. We also like one from @genovianprincess. Coastal Grandma style is also trending on TikTok, coined by @lexnicoleta, with Nancy Meyers, Diane Keaton, and Anne Hathaway showing support. 

15:00 - Utah Soda Shops

Creator @thirstdrinks explains what Utah sodas are and we talk about why they’re trending. 

22:30 - Revolve Festival Drama, Bunny Barbie vs Bethenny Frankel

TikTokers spill the tea on all the Revolve Festival drama, featuring clips from @rubyrubyrubyrubyrubay, @hannahkosh, @webbiefoot. Bunny Barbie (@thebunnybarbie) and Bethenny Frankel (@bethennyfrankel) seem to be feuding.

9:45 - TikTok’s Music Industry, Lip Sync Trend, Brands and Music Licensing 

TikTok is trying to claim their own stake in the music industry as told by @100daysofmarketing. We love a funny lip sync trend from @filmmiko18, featuring an example from @brodywellmaker. Target’s (@target) social media manager brings all the brands together to commiserate about music licensing. 

19:00 - Audio Trend, Babybel Sculptures, Sprite Challenge

Audio from RHONY is trending with Luann saying, “How could you do this to me?” Featuring one from Claire Manship (@womanship). Rex Curtiss (@rextrocreative) creates Babybel sculptures on TikTok. There’s a Sprite challenge going around, we feature one video from @tuckercomedy.

23:50 - Cameo for PR, Rotoscope Filter, Song Trend, and TikTok Water Guy

A cookbook author (@iambakerofficial) tells us about an interesting way to use Cameo for promotion. The Rotoscope filter is trending. A song from Despicable Me 2, “Just A Cloud Away” by Pharrell is also trending, featuring one from @thedirtyexplorer. And finally, the water guy @Martinrieseofficial has taken over all our FYPs. The funny @brianjordanalvarez was quick to parody and then team up with him to rate waters in a grocery store.

13:00 - Song Trends

The first song trend is “Miami, My Amy” by Keith Whitley. Featuring examples from @jannethbands, @reneensmith, and @volcorps. Next trend is “Not gonna bother” by Iwan Edwards using a clip from James Corden in “Gavin & Stacey.” We feature a prank from @paulkarpov. “Crazy” by Patsy Cline is also trending, we read examples from @rhinestonedirtbag, @skye.shep, and @alaynalynn444. 

21:45 - Filter Trends 

This week's filter trends include a dog type filter. Featuring an example from @erikatitus. And a  Google search filter.

We keep seeing these funny BYU interviews, and we love them. This week’s favorite account is @blackmenaces.

Dena and Melissa start the show discussing Dena’s trip to Oswego, Little Caesars, and the Oscars. We talk about TikTok’s reaction to the Oscars fiasco.

One of our favorite TikTok shows (and guest on episode 27!) What’s Poppin? with Davis Burleson is trending with the question, “Who’s your celebrity doppelganger?” Even Kate Hudson (@thekatehudson) had fun with the trend. 

18:00 - Song Trends

The first song trend uses the prompt, “Why didn’t you call 911 first when you got in an accident?” We feature TikToks from @ange1a33, @_kickitkenny_9, and @maciisabella. The next song trend is called, “My Name Is” by D Billions. And the final trend uses the prompt, “What I thought I looked like in middle school vs how I actually looked,” and uses the “scene makeup” filter. 

25:20 - Legally Blonde Audio and Prank

The audio from the scene in Legally Blonde where Elle Woods introduces herself to her study group is going viral. We love one from @later.com. And a boomerang photo prank is going around, we like one from @briannajoye_fitness.
